Students handed in their translations of the Rabbit story, along with 5 original Japanese sentences to add to the story.


New grammar points (from Chapter 6 in Nakama) were taught today -- conjunctions or clause-connectors:

が to indicate the meaning "but" between independent clauses
から to indicate "so, therefore" between clauses

ケーキ　は　おいしかった　です　が　｛私　は｝　食べませんでした。
The cake was delicious, but I didn't eat it.

＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿から＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿。

ケーキ　は　おいしく　ありませんでした　から　｛私　は｝たべませんでした。
The cake wasn't delicious so/therefore I didn't eat it.

Students practiced, using a handout from Nakama workbook, pages 83 and 84.  The examples above are both in past tense, but the handout allowed for using both past tense and present tense.

Students should finish the handout for homework.
Students should write Japanese sentences using each one of the adjectives on page 163 of the text.
