Students were issued blank 3x5 cards and rubber bands for making kanji flashcard packs  --- assignment this time was the set of kanji issued for Nakama Chapter 9


Dog -- Think of seeing the dog from in front.You can see his front feet, his head, his shoulders, and the tip of his tail over his shoulder.

Cat -- 毛 Hair (in radical form, it's often used to indicate an 'animal' meaning_
    田 Field
   The top part, which looks like 2 10s close together 十十, means "grass"
    The cat is the animal in the grass by the field.

Then the class worked on pages 119 and 120 from the Nakama Workbook.  The following items were written on the board, to assist students in completing the work.

Students were assigned to write 4 paragraphs summarizing the article.  In addition, they were told to write every Japanese word in the article, including names, in the Japanese writing system.  This assignment was to be handed in to the substitute teacher at the end of the class.

The students expected to take a test today on Chapter 8.  Instead, they will have more time to study.  Here are review items for comprehensive test.  Students may use their textbooks, their notes, and handouts in studying.   They should make flash cards for these items and then write sentences, underlining the items that they have used.  Flash cards can be returned to the box at the front of the room or taken home for studying. The sentences should be handed in to the substitute teacher at the end of class.

Please make 17 copies of the list below and hand a list to each student.
