日本語で書く。 Write the underlined words in 漢字 kanji.

I am a vegetarian (菜食主義者 さいしょくしゅぎしゃ Or ベジタリアン), therefore I don’t like to eat meat.

The park is pretty, therefore I like to take photos at the park.

The student likes to study, but doesn’t like to do homework.

The teacher prefers homework to study(ing). (In other words, “likes homework better than studying.”)

(My) friend likes to buy sweaters at the department store. (See page  242 in Nakama)

Sensei doesn’t like to do shopping.  (kanji for “buy” plus もの)

英語で書く。The main verb is underlined.  Yes, you can us active verbs (in addition to traveling verbs), in sentences expressing the idea of “in order to,” that is, [Verb-stem ni + final verb]  Use 漢字かんじ for the words in italics.

I will go-home to make hors d’oeuvres.

The student came to the coffee shop to drink (green) tea and black tea.

My mother bought meat to make pork cutlets.

My friend used vegetables to make a mixed salad.

The Californians ( カリフォルニア人 ) picked (took) oranges to make orange juice.






After the warm-up, let’s look together at the menu on page 289 and then read about phone calls on pp. 308 and 309.
