Class activities---hand a copy of this page to each student
1. Students should
read pages 136 and 137 in the Nakama textbook, the passage on culture. After they read it, they should write 2
paragraphs in English (on a separate piece of paper) about differences they
notice between Japanese colleges and American colleges. They should hand the paragraphs in to you.
2. After finishing
the first assignment, students should think about their own daily routines and
schedules. They should look at page 132
of Nakama, where a number of activities are listed in Japanese. On a separate piece of paper, students should
write a sentence using each phrase in Section A, telling what day or what
time he or she performed the activities, in the following format:
Time
NI Subject WA (or GA) verb-phrase.
Examples:
Doyoubi ni watashi wa TEREBI wo
mimasu.
土よう日 に わたし は テレビ を みます。
On Saturday I watch television.
San-ji
ni jugyou ga owarimasu.
さんじ に じゅぎょう が おわります。
At
three o’clock the class ends.
3. Any students who have not finished their
geography projects may work on those projects using their laptops.
