“Traveling” verbs:
いきます                goes
きます                     comes
かえります            returns-home

You often need to tell us what the destination is when you speak/write a “traveling” verb.  Where will you go?  Where will you come to?  Where will you return-home to?  In that case, use the relational particle   (or へ )  in order to indicate your destination.

Examples:

あした (Tomorrow)わたし は こうこう に きます。Tomorrow I will come to the high school.

ロシアじん は モスクワ へ かえります。The Russian will return home to Moscow.

せんせい は よく 日本(にほん)に いきます。Sensei often goes to Japan.

あきた しんかんせん (The Akita Shinkansen-bullet-train) は あきた し(city) に かえります。 The Akita Shinkansen returns home to Akita City.

し Suffix = City けん Suffix=Prefecture(Something like a state in the U.S.

あきた し Is Akita City あきた けん Is Akita Prefecture

Look at the map of the Shinkansen routes that Sensei has handed to you.  Then write 5 sentences indicating where various Shinkansen go or return-home to (bad English grammar…sorry).

On board, sentence pattern for sentences with "traveling" verbs:

Subject は Destination  に(Or へ)”Traveling" verb.

Proverb:

芸は身を助ける げい は み を たすける

Arts/skills save lives.    Art will save your life.
