あの　ひこうき　は　おもそう　です　ね。

高校生の時、私　は　じてんし　に　のったり　山　に　のぼったり　しました。

この　学生　は　きげん　が　わるそう　です。

ここ　から　見える　シアーズ・タワー　は　ゆうめい　そう　だ。

友達　は　「犬も猫も　大好き　だ」　と　言った。

Nakama Chapter 12          Potential Forms of Group 1 Verbs

Instead of writing 行く　こと　が　できます　to express the meaning, “can/able to go,”  you can use the potential conjugational form.

For Group 1 verbs, it’s easy.  Replace the “i” syllable before the “masu” with the “e” syllable from the same hiragana row.

Examples:

行きます　　Becomes   　  行けます　　In the potential form.

読みます　　　　　　　　 読めます    　(Hint: all group 1 verbs be-

うたいます　　　　　　　 うたえます   　come group 2 in the potential)
