Note:  ほしい　Is conjugated like an い adjective.　The subject of a sentence with ほしい  in it must be either “I”  or “you”.

Examples:

            私　は　新しい　テレビ　が　ほしい　です。　I want a new television.

            きもの　が　ほしい　です　が　きたくない　です。I want a kimono but I don’t want to wear (it).

            新聞　ほしくない　です　が　ざっし　が　読めます。I don’t want a newspaper, but I can read a magazine.

            子供の時　おもちゃ（Toys）が　たくさん　ほしかった　ですか。

　　　When you were a child, did you want a lot of toys?

英語で：
