The reign name for the new emperor's era, starting May 1st, was announced in Japan 

on April 1st.   It will be Reiwa, 令和, which means, depending on whom you talk to, "Orderly Harmony."  It is based on a poem in Japan's oldest poetry collection, the 

Manyoushuu  万葉集, "the collection of 10,000 leaves."
