We survived the time of extreme cold 大寒(だいかん) and are back in school.
Warm-up was postponed to Monday, which is also when homework from Tuesday will be collected.
Our guests from Japan gave their presentations instead. The Japanese students:
1. Asked our students questions about Japanese high schools
2. Gave a presentation about what Japanese high school students do
3. Gave our students an opportunity to play a game, sorting beans with chopsticks into the collect receptacle (green or orange)
4. Kendama--Archer and Emily were able to do it, and Ben made a valiant effort.
5. A finger game called 指爪 ゆびつめ (”Fingernails")
6. Origami 鯉のぼり (こいのぼり)It's a fish that can be displayed from a stick, a "carp flag" suitable for Boys/Childrens Day in Japan. It doubles as a chopstick cover.
After the presentations, American and Japanese students spent the rest of the period mingling, talking, and taking photos.
