Computer Lab Lesson --
Handout:  How to arrange the computer so that it will write Japanese fonts:



  1.  Go to Start and click
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Go to Clock/Language/Region
  4. Go to Region and Language
  5. Go to Languages and Fonts
  6. Go to Change Keyboards
  7. Go to Add
  8. Go to Japanese and click on little icon to the left of the word
  9. Under Keyboard, click on Microsoft IME
  10. Click on OK
  11. When the small EN symbol appears at the lower right of the screen, click on it, and then click on “show the language bar”
  12. Language bar usually appears at the top of the screen at the right
  13. Click on Japanese, and then choose “hiragana”
  14. Now you can start writing in a Microsoft Word document
For homework, students finish typing their own self-introductions


8th period
Animal origami assignment, crab, fox, or dove, pasted to a piece of paper plus writing assignment (self-introduction by the animal him/herself)

Homework for both classes:


Do a Google search of the following:  "earthquake drills in Japan"  Print out, write out, information and bring on Monday
