Shortened day due to late start.
Discussion of adjectives and their opposites
Adjective Adjective with opposite meaning
isogashii himana
ookii chiisai
muzukashii yasashii
omoshiroi tsumaranai
Adjective tests were handed back, with discussion. Interesting problem regarding the adjective hima(na), which students thought meant "boring."
Review of 2 uses of kara:
1. から kara as "from" as in HARO-KITI wa Akihabara kara kimashita.
ハローキティ は あきはばら から 来ました。
2. から kara as "so" or "therefore" when explaining causes of things, as in
きれい でした から 学生 は ゆかた を 買いました。
Kirei deshita kara gakusei wa yukata wo kaimashita.
It was pretty, so the student bought the yukata.
Each student wrote two sentences using this form of "kara," and some students read them aloud in
class.
No homework, but tomorrow the class will move on to a third use of から "kara" -- meaning "from" in time.
Example:
高校 は 八時 から です。
Koukou wa hachi-ji kara desu.
The high school is (open) from eight o'clock.
