今日（きょう）は 金曜日 です ね.
今日も いい お天気（てんき）です。 Today,
too, the (honorable) weather is good.
今日 の ほう が きのう より 温度（おんど）は あたたかい です。The temperature
will be warmer today than ( it was) yesterday.
There was an article in the Japan Times yesterday (I think) saying
that the government is planning to give 2 face masks to each family (50,000,000
families) in Japan. There’s also a funny
cartoon as a sidebar of this article, criticizing the policy. Can you figure out what it says? Below is the link to the article. What do you think of this idea?

you to do is go to YouTube and find a Japanese TV commercial with English
subtitles. Watch it several times. What is it about? Does it seem like American TV commercials to
you? Why, or why not?

A. Send me the link to the commercial you chose,
answer the questions, and also send me at least 5 Japanese words that you
recognize, with their English translations.
B. Practice
the漢字 kanji from the
Chapter 8 漢字のシート kanji
sheet.
C. Extra credit: Read the article from the Japan Times above and send me your opinion about it. Is it a good idea? What does the cartoon mean?

I want you to take it easy this weekend. Do you have Netflix or Hulu or something else
at home? Do you have DVDs of any
Japanese movies with subtitles? If so, watch your favorite movie again. You probably are able to understand more of
the Japanese than you used to. Do you
think the subtitles are accurate?
