今日（きょう）は　木曜日　です　な。  Today is Thursday.

お天気（てんき）が　いい　です。 The (honorable) weather is good.

はれ　で　あまり　さむく　ありません。It’s clear and not very cold.

あめ　が　ふらない　と　おもいます。  It won’t rain, I think.

出かけます　か。　散歩（さんぽ）します　か。Will you go out?  Will you take a walk?

I wish I could take a walk with you (but 2 meters apart, of course)>

If you’re interested in finding out about the current weather in Japan, you can go to the website for the Japan Meteorlogical Agency,  jma.go.jp , and check it out.  They have a lot of information, in detail.

Japanese 3-4

I noticed in yesterday’s homework that people are having trouble with relational particles, so let’s practice a few.  Here’s a brief explanation of what four of the relational particles (usually) do:

wa  (ha)       は indicates the subject or topic of the sentence

ni                   にdesignates (1) a destination (with a traveling verb),

                   (2) a specific time with a name or a number,

                  (3) the place where something exists/is (existence verbs)

wo           をindicates the direct object of a verb, the thing that “receives

                             the action of the verb”

no            の is “the possessive,” when something belongs to something else

宿題　しゅくだい　　　Homework　

A.   Rewrite these following sentences, and add the correct relational particles.  Of course, in order to do that, you have to understand the sentences.　You have to figure out what the subject and verb are, ね。

木曜日＿＿＿　学生　＿＿＿　宿題　を　します。

ねこ　＿＿＿　うち　＿＿＿　います。

今日（きょう）私　は　スーパー　＿＿＿　行きません。

B.  Yesterday was the birthday of the great Japanese actor, Toshiro Mifune ( known in Japan as Mifune Toshiro  三船　敏郎)  。He appeared in films by Japan’s greatest film director, Akira Kurosawa (Kurosawa Akira  黒澤　明)。Your assignment is to find out as much about Toshiro Mifune as you can and write 2 paragraphs (4 sentences each) about him 英語で

Think about various famous people and figure out which ones could fit these descriptions.  Then rewrite the discriptions, with the ゆうめいな　人　の 名前 as the subject.  This is vocabulary from Nakama Chapter 10.  Notice the wa/ga pattern in all these sentences.
