Students saw a temple in Kyoto.

　　　学生　は　きょうと　で　おてら　を　見た。

In winter break, I listened to music.

　　　ふゆ休み　に　私　は　音楽　を　聞いた。

When I was little ( 小さい時 ) 　I ate strange food.

　　　小さい時　私　は　へんな　食べ物　を　食べた。

On the white board:

Verb plain past negative formation.

All plain negative verbs end with ない。

Take the 　い  off the   ない   and add  　かった  .

ーーない　　　　　ーーなかった

Examples:

食べない　　　　　食べなかった

来ない（こない）　来なかった（こなかった）

話さない　　　　　話さなかった
