Hiatus Post      2020.05.07    Thursday  休けい時間 きゅうけい じかん

令和257   木曜日

If you need a bit of cheering up today, you can go to the following link and take a virtual tour of the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo!  Usually the museum doesn’t allow photos of the inside, but in the current situation, an exception is made.

And here is something else that is diverting.  The Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago sent out the following message yesterday on Facebook:

We are collaborating with @AATJ14 [ AATJ is the American Association of Teachers of Japanese] for a new project during the month of May! It's called #みんなでがんばりマスク project! We are gathering photos and videos of Japanese language learners around the US and beyond! For more information on how to participate: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ViLfg1BDkSTtLvEEuwWMg9-vUHpVzGNdE12fLfwHS6k/edit#slide=id.p

If you are interested in this, you can go to the link and find out more about it.  The Japanese you would write might be less complex than these examples, perhaps, but you could contribute something charming or かわいい。

Japanese 3-4

You will be doing the class assignments created by Yoko Schmadeke Sensei from now on.  Send them /post them to me, however, as I will be grading them in Skyward.

Japanese 5-6

Please continue learning the vocabulary, kanji, and grammar from Chapter 11 of Nakama.  We are looking toward a final project of a memoir about childhood memories.  The assignment below will give you some idea of the kind of 作文sakubun you will write. (There will be no final exam.)  You will receive more details next week.

When a child, (my) friend was living in Australia.

The house was in a small town, and the town was near the ocean.

During the hot summer, the friend had the experience of swimming with dolphins (イルカ) in the warm ocean.

During the cool autumn, the friend did things like playing with kangaroos and climbing trees.

He/she had the experience of riding bicycles and taking photographs.

The friend’s mother was employed at Honda.

The friend’s younger sister and brother did things like watching anime on TV and laughing.
