Today is 子供の日 Children’s Day!  It was formerly known as Boys’ Day.　端午の節句　Tango no sekku is the traditional name for this celebration. Girls Day wasお雛祭り  O-hina Matsuri, the doll festival, on March 3^rd.

"[Today] is Children’s Day in Japan! It’s a national holiday where children’s growth and happiness are celebrated! On this day, Japanese people typically eat Kashiwa Mochi which is a chewy rice cake stuffed with red bean paste and wrapped with a Kashiwa (oak leaf). Chimaki is also another common food which is a steamed Japanese dumpling made with sweet or savory ingredients and wrapped in bamboo leaf. Traditionally, Koinobori (carp streamers) are also hung up and flown on this day! Just like the spirited and free carp streamers, we hope for our youth’s future to also be free-spirited! Have a wonderful Children’s Day!"

The first is to tell about your (possibly fictional) weekend, using specified verbs in the past tense. 

The second is to tell about experiences you have had using the pattern
