You will notice that the verbs are in a new form, the “dictionary form,” which we’ll talk about.  The “dictionary form” is the plain/informal present, affirmative tense.  It’s like the “infinitive” in えい語。All “dictionary forms” end in an “u” vowel sound, just as all neutral-polite present affirmative forms end in “masu.”

Somebody had fun writing these traditional poems of 17 syllables each (first line, 5 syllables; second line, 7 syllables; third line, 5 syllables) .  Now I want you to write 2 haiku in English (or in Japanese, if you can) about Godzilla or Mothra or some かいじゅう　or dinosaur きょうりゅう。
