Go to Classroom and find the link for the Flipgrid asslignment and
directions for what is required. Work
with your partner to practice your
dialogue. When you feel ready, you may
record it in the hall. I must be able to
see your faces as you make the recording.

Honorific language – 敬語 けいご

さし上げる (さしあげる) We give to one above us in hierarchy
私は校長先生(こうちょうせんせいThe principal)に花をさ
さし上げました。I gave flowers to
the Principal.
下さる (くださる)Someone above us gives to
us
大名(だいみょうFeudal lord of a province)は家の母(は
は)にかたな(Sword)を 下さいました。The Daimyo
gave my mother a sword.
いただく We
receive from someone above us in hierarchy
この高校は市長(しちょうThe mayor)から賞金(しょう
きんMonetary award)をいただきました。This high school
received a monetary award from the Mayor。
Write the correct giving/receiving verb, at the appropriate honorific
level, for each situation.
President Obama gave me a gold star.
