ワームアップAsk your partner to take some action, using the   -て・で下さい and some appropriate direct object.  Your partner should reply that he/she/they want to do it　はい、 ―たいです　or don’t want to do it すみませんが、 ―たくない　です。Write down 3 of your partner’s answers.   たとえば：　

A－さん：音楽を聞いて下さい。   B-さん：　はい、聞きたいです。　OR

すみませんが、ききたくない　です。 　A-さん：　どうして？　　B-さん：Explains

Verb Groups

Gr. 1　　　う　Verbs/  Consonant verbs

　　　　　Change　い　　syllable to　え　 syllable for potential　　

Gr. 2　　　る　Verbs

　　　　　Fewer than group 1　　　　Easiest to conjugate（Sensei's favorite）

　　　　　Take off　ます     put on る、ない、 , etc.

　　　　　Add られ　before ます  in the potential

　　　　　2　Sneaky Gr 2 verbs：　起きます　おきます　おきる

Group 3　Smallest group

　           Only two --  します、来ます（きます）　　

           No rule for conjugating -- must memorize

               Potential for します　　Is　　できます

　　　　Pronunciation of  来　changes according to conjugational form

　　　　　来ます（きます）、来る（くる）、来ない（こない）

　　　　　Potential for 来ます　Is　来られます（こられます）
