Waterboys (ウォーターボーイズ Wōtā Bōizu) is a 2001 Japanese comedy film written and directed by Shinobu Yaguchi, about five boys who start a synchronized swimming team at their high school. The film stars Satoshi Tsumabuki (Suzuki, the leader of the team), Hiroshi Tamaki (Sato), Akifumi Miura (Ohta), Koen Kondo (Kanazawa), Takatoshi Kaneko (Saotome) and Naoto Takenaka(the dolphin trainer).

The film was a success in Japan, and was nominated for eight prizes at the Japan Academy Prize, winning awards for 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Music Score'. A spin-off television series entered its third season in 2005.　　（Wikipedia)

Nakama Chapter 12 – “What do you want to do?”　何がしたい　です　か。

Verb stem (take off the ます masu) +　たい tai (ですdesu)

For the negative, “I don’t want to…,” conjugate the たい like anい adjective:

 take off the  いand add くない。

Use が instead of  を  to indicate the direct object.

Subject must be either "I" or "you".　（”Want to do" for 3rd persons is a different form.）

Examples:

　おかし　が　食べたい　です。　       I want to eat sweets.

　お水　が　飲みたい　です。              I want to drink water.

　映画　が　見たい　です　か。                     Do you want to see a movie?

中ごく　に　行きたくない　です。     I don’t want to go to China.

日本語　が　話したい　です　が　出来ません（できません）。

                                                       I want to speak Japanese but I can’t (speak it).

Nakama Chapter 12          Potential Forms of Group 1 Verbs

Instead of writing 行く　こと　が　できます　to express the meaning, “can/able to go,”  you can use the potential conjugational form.

For Group 1 verbs, it’s easy.  Replace the “i” syllable before the “masu” with the “e” syllable from the same hiragana row.

Examples:

行きます　　Becomes   　  行けます　　In the potential form.
