Sentences were written on the board, showing the use of "the ha/wa" [いわゆるはのわ」as a relational particle indicating the subject/topic of the sentence.

Example:  これ は ボールペン (ぼおるぺん) です。 This-thing is a ballpoint pen.

The class as a whole looked at page 27 of Nakama, the beginning of Chapter 2.  We will be working with Chapter 2 by the end of the week.
