Three uses of the te form
1. to form polite commands, with kudasai たって ください
2. to create progressive/continuative expressions, as in "Now I am _____ing this."
今 私 は おりがみ を つくって います。I am making origami now.
3. as "and" between verbs in a sentence or clause
ナイフ を つかって ステーキ を きります。I use the knife and cut the steak
