It is the fact that relational-particles have multiple uses and meanings that makes them so difficult for native English speakers to  understand and use.   The relational-particle    is a good example.

から　　　　         From　　　             先生　は　ドイツ　から　来ました．

　　　　　　　　　　　                                   Sensei came from Germany.　　

からーーまで         From---until/to　　スーパーは　七時から　六時まで　です。

The supermarket is（ open）from 7 o’clock to 6 o’clock.

                                                                        この　バス　は　シカゴからニューヨーク

まで　です。This bus is (goes) from Chicago to New York.
