平成二十六年十一月十八日 -- 火曜日

Mandatory choral speaking: verb conjugations and counting with various counters --
te forms, days of month, people, hundreds, small four-footed animals

ワーム・アップ: 三 X 日本語 で (かんじ も)
Give the warm-up to Sensei at the end of class
一。meets, does not meet
ニ。bought, did not buy
三。was famous, was not famous
四。is handsome, is not handsome

On the whiteboard:

neutral polite                        plain form, affirmative      te form
affirmative                            ("dictionary form")                   (a sort of participle)

ます(says) 言                言って
い い                い

ます(buys) 買               買って
か か                か

ます(meets) 会                会って
あ あ                あ

ます(breathes, inhales)    す                 すって

The class discussed these grammar transformations and tried to develop a rule describing them.
"First, drop the ます.  The  い  syllable preceding the ます in the neutral polite affirmative form changes to  う in the "dictionary form" and to って in the て form."

Students performed yesterday's short dialogue (using masu and te forms) in pairs.
