   Dialogue -- verb forms -- want-to-do and able-to-do If you are Aーさん ask your partner Bーさん  to take some action, using the -て・で下さい and some appropriate direct object or destination. Your partner should reply that he/she/they want to do it はい、 たいです or don’t want to do it すみませんが、 たくない です。Add the explanation using able-to potential forms. Then reverse the roles of A and B and do it again, using different verbs.

たとえば: 

A-さん:音楽を聞いて下さい。

B-さん: はい、聞きたいです。 OR

     すみませんが、ききたくない AND

Nakama Chapter 11: Autobiography/Biography

自叙伝(じじょでん)

漢字のいみKanji meanings are Self, relate, transmit

写真(しゃしん)とか、え Photo or picture

 

A.  Writing during class time, only – each section to be handed in at the end of the class period – using genkouyoushi paper – skipping lines – えんぴつで書いて下さい。

 

B.  Using no electronic media, only the textbook, Nakama, and only vocabulary from Nakama – You may ask your classmates questions.  キメル先生 will help you, too.  (No use of ChromeBooks

 

 

C.  You may write as “yourself,” or as if you are some other person/character/entity, but in the first person:私、僕(ぼく)、俺(おれ)、Etc.  だれ? 名前?

 

D.    Four sections --

Section 1,  わかい時     

                            Name, when/where born, current residence, family,  

                            memories, experiences

      What you saw 見ました/見た

                            Was good, bad, etc.?

                            Memory --  思い出 おもいで

      Opinions – と 思います I think that…

Section 2, 小学校の時  

     Teachers, vacations, studies, playtime in various places

                       Wanted to do vs. was able to do

                         Was enjoyable, boring, etc?

     Illness/accidents

                        Seasons/weathers/temperatures

Section 3, 中学の時

      Friends, clothes, activities

      What you did when you felt sad, happy, etc.

      In your free time  ひまな 時

      

Section 4、高校の時

                           Celebrating holidays, family members, sports/hobbies,

                            Studies – were interesting, difficult, etc?

      Travel

      アルバイト

      Hobbies and interests  しゅみ、きょうみ

      

E.    Use either the neutral-polite past tense ―ました、ませんでした or the plain past tense た・だ、なかった, consistently     Plain past for です・じゃありません Is だった・じゃなかった。

 

F.    Required grammatical forms

 

        When/at the time of      --時(に)

    Wanted to do --  stem + したかった です。

    Didn’t want to do – stem + したなかった です。

    Was able to do できました、来られました、Etc.  

    Had the experience  ―た・だことがある

    Hearsay Plain verb or adj. + そう でした・だった

                   Did things like    ―たり  ―たり しました・した

    Giving opinions – と 思います。

    To remember – 思い出す(おもいだす)

    Quoting exact words   「 」と言いました・言った

A.   Verbs of giving and receiving among people of roughly equal status--

    あげる・あげます You or someone in your group gives to

                                                   another or to others

 くれる・くれます  Someone else gives to you or

           to someone in your group

もらう・もらいます  Anyone receives from anyone

 

Depending on the situation, your group can be your family, your class, your school, etc.  What’s tricky is that your group can change, in different contexts.  2 Nakama, Chapter 7
