鳥（とり）と 犬（いぬ）use the plain form talking to each other because they
are friends.
鳥さん の 家 は 木 の 上 に あった。あの 木 は どう物びょういん（Animal Hospital） の 左 に あった。鳥さん は びょういん に つとめて いた。しごと は 看護婦（かんごふNurse） の しごと だった。週末（しゅうまつ）鳥先生 は こうえん に あそび に 行った。どうして？ 鳥さん は あそびたがって いた。鳥さん は 友達 の 犬さん に 会った。
鳥さん：「どうした の ？ かお色 は わるい ！
気分 が わるい ？」
犬さん： 「かぜ を ひいて、 のど が たいへん いたい」
鳥さん： 「ざんねん だ ね。にゅういん に したい？」
犬さん： 「行きたくない！ ねつ が ない。
くすり が きらい よ。」
鳥さん： 「でも、びょういん の 牛先生 は 上手な
（お）いしゃ（さん） だ。
会ったら 好き に なる と 思う。
前に、びょういん に 行った こと が ある。」
犬さん： 「あら。一回（ＯＮＥ time）行った。 あした 行く。」
犬さん は びょういん に 行って、牛先生 に 会った。犬と牛先生speak formally to each other because they are not
friends, but patient and doctor.
犬さん： 先生、気分 が わるい。たすけて （Help）下さい。
牛先生： じゃ、ねつ を はかりました か。
犬さん： いいえ。
牛先生： 今（いま）はかりましょう。
（He takes Dog’s temperature）
あら、ねつ が 出ました、ね。あたま が いたい
ですか。
犬さん： はい、いたい です。 せき も でる。
牛先生： ＯＫ，かぜ を ひきました、ね。 家 に 帰って、休んで
下さい。この くすり も 飲んで下さい。来週、また ここ
に 来て下さい。
犬さん： はい、わかりました。先生、ありがとう ございます。
牛先生： どう いたしまして。 おだいじに、ね。
